Ukie organises UK industry stands at major global games events to encourage international trade and investment opportunities. Many events are supported with grants for companies choosing to exhibit and showcase their games to a global audience.
If you would like to participate in any of the activities listed below, please email Sam Collins, our Head of Commercial, at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
All activities within the Ukie International Trade programme are subject to short term change due to the impact of the current epidemic. We will, where possible, replicate planned activities with alternative virtual opportunities.
In all cases the safety of our games company clients is of paramount importance in all decisions we take.
Gamescom is the leading trade and consumer show for the games industry in Europe. Ukie manages a large UK industry stand in the business area and housed over 90 UK games companies in 2019. Business wins of over £30m were achieved in 2019.
The 2020 iteration of the show was a digital only event due to German Government regulations about mass gatherings.
Ukie supported 50 UK companies through the creation of a virtual stand within the digital event and supported companies to help make vital connections with developers, publishers, platforms, investors, service companies and the media. Ukie also ran two highly successful digital showcases celebrating the best UK and European developers in an innovative live event that engaged industry and the general public.
GDC is an important global event that brings developers, publishers and investors together. UK companies that attended GDC on the UK stand in 2019 secured business wins of over £40m over three days. In 2020, as a result of COVID-19, the event was postponed and replaced with a digital iteration in July 2020.
The UK Industry presence at GDC is supported by additional events focussing on investment and promotion of the UK games market to a global audience.
We hope to see GDC return as a physcial event in 2021.
Ukie manages a comprehensive trade mission to China Joy, the leading trade show in Asia. The mission includes a scheduled series of 1-2-1 meetings with leading Chinese games companies, visits to local studios, networking dinners and presentation slots at games networking events.
Over 100 UK companies have attended ChinaJoy as part of a Ukie organised programme. In 2020 we repalced the physical visit to Shanghai with a four day virtual trade mission that educated UK companies on the latest market trends and facilitated two days of 121 connections.
Ukie also organises trade missions to emerging markets around the world. We work in conjunction with local market experts and the UK Government Department for International Trade.
We deliver comprehensive missions that give UK companies a detailed insight into the opportunities and nuances of overseas markets for trade, investment and collaboration.
Ukie also brings delegations from overseas markets into the UK to explore investment opportunities in the UK.
Our key markets are currently China, USA and Europe. We are also working on plans to give access to LATAM, the Middle East and African markets.
