Internship opportunities for Ukie Students

Job Title:   Game Developer Intern

Contract:  £1,000 per month for 4 months

About us: fruitlab is a social network built for gamers.  Having launched in September 2019, we have organically grown to 600k users and are gearing up to grow significantly over the next 18-24 months.  Fruitlab allows users to upload and watch video and photo content, chat with other users via direct message or in our public chat rooms and play games against each other.  We have a proprietory rewards mechanism that enables all users to monetise their content from the very first view by earning our on-platform currency (PIPs) which can be exchanged for digital game currency, donated to other users or to be spent in our Arcade feature.

Fruitlab has built a Esports framework that allows users to play games for PIPs against other users.   We have been testing this feature with some hyper casual HTML5 games and now wish to build out the gaming aspect of both the platform and business significantly.

The opportunity:  We are seeking a number of individuals to join the fruitlab team to develop the initial games for our new Arcade feature.  You will work together to design, build and implement games that can be played head to head (real-time or turn-based) between users of the fruitlab with results and scores being sent via API to the fruitlab platform.   This internship will be used by fruitlab to identify individuals who have the talent, skill and passion to join the team permanently and become our Game development team.

The fruitlab office is located in London though due to current restrictions, the team is working remotely.  Flexible working arrangements will be in place for the duration of the internship.

The ideal candidate:  We are looking for people who are self-starters and willing to get stuck in. This will not be a typical mentorship type internship so you will be willing to put ideas forward, try things, and take responsibility for delivering a finished project.  You will be comfortable working remotely and on your own.  Skills wise, you will have experience in coding or the graphic design of games on personal projects.

How to apply: To apply, email a copy of your CV and include any portfolio of work or relevant projects that you have been involved into ben@fruitlab.com.  Please include a covering email explaining why you are interested in the position and why you think you’d be a good candidate.  Good luck!
